Apple iPod and iPhone News for September-17-07

Macs on the network: Time to panic?
They’re coming. Gleaming all-in-ones, metallic slimline notebooks and hand-size “mini” machines. For network admins, the Macintosh has always been the purview of advertising agencies, entertainment companies, educators and home computer users. Mac OS X is merely a minor support issue in a Microsoft-dominated organization.

Here is a (preliminary) list of things you’ll lose out on by buying an iPod touch…

My iPod Touch is part iPhone?
Apparently apple takes the time to remove functional code like allowing you to input calendar events but doesn’t bother to change the “iPhone is disabled” text shown when you lock your iPod and fail to type in the right password.

Hands On: iTunes WiFi Music Store
One new feature that came with the announcement of the iPod Touch is the iTunes WiFi Music Store. TV Torrents: When piracy is easier than legal purchase
NBC s recent withdraw from the iTunes store leaves the millions of users of Apple iPods without a legitimate way to purchase and watch NBC s content. Tested: iPod Touch Screen Inferior to the iPhone’s Screen [Pics]
The iPhone and iPod Touch are presumed to have the same screen quality. But they don’t, according to some testing and reader feedback we did today. The iPod Touch’s screen turns black areas somewhat greyish, washed out shadow detail, with absolute blacks appearing shimmery.

12 Effective Strategies Apple Uses to Create Loyal Customers

First iPod Touch Review @ PCMag
When the iPhone came out in June, many people (myself included) loved it, but wanted it without the phone—and that pesky two-year contract with AT&T Wireless. I’m no Luddite, but I don’t want my personal media player to ring in the middle of a song.

Word on the high street is that Apple is holding a press briefing at their Regent Street Apple store on September 18th. The invites are circulating as we speak to various members of the UK press.
