Sony Plans Walkman Comeback, To Counter iPod

The Sony Walkman has sold over 300 million units since it’s creation in 1979. It used to be the must-have personal music player, but that title has since been taken over by the Apple iPod.

To fight back, Sony is planning a comeback with a re-engineered, re-designed version of the Walkman. The current Walkman, the Network Walkman, is able to store up to 13,000 songs and sells for $299. The upcoming Walkman can only be even better and is set to debut sometime in the next 6 months. I guess we’ll have to wait a bit to see if it comes even close the iPod and the other players in the iPod family.
