Get a Free iPod Shuffle From TD Canada Trust

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

If you haven’t heard by now, TD Canada Trust is giving away iPod Shuffles to customers who switch their main bank account to them.

All you have to do is transfer your main personal or small business chequing account at another financial institution to an eligible chequing account at TD Canada Trust by August 12, 2005². For personal chequing accounts, you will also need to have at least one direct deposit or two pre-authorized payments set up (can be new or existing). And thanks to our EasySwitch process, moving your account is hassle-free – because we do the work for you.

This deal expires August 12, 2005, so there is still plenty of time to deliberate the move.

(Great Looking) iPod Shuffle Clones

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

Engadget (and dap review and AVing Visual News) gave us a preview of a new iPod Shuffle clone by LG Electronics. These hot images of the new LG mp3 player were taken at an electronics expo in Korea and, as is easily apparent, show a display-free device that is stunningly similar to the Shuffle. And just like the iPod Shuffle, the LG player comes in two different capacities: 512 MB and 1GB.

But, LG is offering their mp3 player in three different colors: white, black, and red. (The red version looks awesome!)

This is the best iPod Shuffle clone that I’ve seen out there. And the fact that it is being developed by such a reputable electronics manufacturer is even more interesting.

Engadget also did display another iPod Shuffle clone today as well, the USB MP3 Capsule.

USB MP3 Capsule

The USB MP3 Capsule costs only $39 US, which is a fraction of what the iPod Shuffle costs, but that is because it does not contain any memory to store mp3s to. Instead, you use removable SD cards as the storage area, which, perhaps, gives you even more flexibility. (If you are interested in the USB MP3 Capsule, you can buy it from Unity Electronics.

Sony Plans Walkman Comeback, To Counter iPod

Monday, June 27th, 2005

The Sony Walkman has sold over 300 million units since it’s creation in 1979. It used to be the must-have personal music player, but that title has since been taken over by the Apple iPod.

To fight back, Sony is planning a comeback with a re-engineered, re-designed version of the Walkman. The current Walkman, the Network Walkman, is able to store up to 13,000 songs and sells for $299. The upcoming Walkman can only be even better and is set to debut sometime in the next 6 months. I guess we’ll have to wait a bit to see if it comes even close the iPod and the other players in the iPod family.

Motorola iTunes Phone Close to Shipping

Friday, June 24th, 2005

This news comes after much debate about which party, Steve Jobs et al or the wireless carriers themselves, who were delaying the release of such iTunes cellphones.

New Logitech Wireless iPod Headphones

Friday, June 24th, 2005

Logitech has just launched a set of wireless iPod headphones, and they look incredible!

Logitech Wireless iPod Headphones

They are expected to weigh 3.2 oz and come with a wireless adapter, which will connect to the iPod through the headphone jack. The wearer will be able to control his iPod using the controls on the side of the headset, which communicates back to the iPod using Bluetooth technology.

“Wireless headphones unleash people from their music player and remove the nuisance of cords,” said Ray Weikel, director of product marketing for Logitech’s Audio Business Unit. “No more untangling those earbuds when you pull your iPod out of the bag, or managing the cords while trying to enjoy your music. We believe our wireless headphones will truly be liberating for iPod owners.”

Pretty nice, eh!

More info is available at the Logitech website.
